Call For Art: Raise The Roof

In 2020, a tornado hit Monroe, causing significant damage to the museum’s roof. When it was repaired, not all the original tiles from the 1929 roof were able to be reused. In 2022, the Masur Museum of Art hosted the first Raise the Roof Fundraiser, asking local artists to create works of art with the tiles.

This year, we are now accepting design submissions from artists interested in participating in this event. The funds raised in the auction will be used to care for the Masur Museum’s permanent collection.

General:

• Tiles will be sold in an online auction as a fundraiser for the museum
• 20 artists will be selected from submissions
• Selected artists will choose their tile on a first-come, first-served basis
• Artists will receive 25% of the final bid for their finished artwork
• Applications can be emailed to info@masurmuseum.org or brought to the front desk at the museum

Requirements:

• Participants must be over 18 years old
• The submitted design MUST be the artwork on the finished tile
• ALL fields must be filled out

Party 318: October 23 from 5:30 – 8PM

• Free to attend
• All tiles at the auction will begin at $50 starting bid
• Tiles will be on display and up for auction from October 16 through the end of Party 318
• Free beer and wine
• Food trucks will be on site

Important Dates:

August 31: Submission Deadline
September 8: Artworks selected and artists contacted
October 14: Drop off deadline for completed tiles
October 16: Auction goes live
October 23: Auction ends at 8PM at Party 318!

Artist Application Packet
