June 12 – 16 | Earth Art Themed Workshop for Children taught by Heather Gill & Alyssa Guidry.
Camp Participants will explore earth and land art while learning how to sculpt and make art using the great outdoors as their canvas! This year eARTh campers will make reversed tie dye t-shirts using hand-cut stencils and found objects, handmade paper for 2D artwork, paper pulp sculptures and masks, cyanotypes and so much more! Many project will focus on using found, recycled, and reclaimed materials. Snacks will be provided. Camp activities also include a tour and scavenger hunt of the current exhibitions on view.
This Summer Art Camp is taught by local artist Heather Gill and the Masur’s Curator of Education & Public Programs, Alyssa Guidry. Heather is a local artist with a BFA in Ceramics from ULM. She creates sculpture and textile artwork that she displays and sells locally. Alyssa Guidry has been working with clay and teaching ceramic workshops for over 10 years. She graduated from ULM with a BFA in Ceramics in 2015. She recently taught Talented Art in the Monroe City School System and runs her own home-based pottery studio, Wild Phlox Pottery.
