About the Workshop:
In this 3-day workshop for beginners we will focus on developing our oil painting abilities through still life painting. We will use a tried and true process of analyzing our subject and translating real life aspects of visual interest with a realistic, yet, painterly, result.
About the Instructor:
Rick Sikes is a practicing artist and educator based in Little Rock, Arkansas. He is now working as the professor of painting and drawing at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and has recently earned his Masters of Fine Art degree in Studio Art from Louisiana Tech University’s School of Design. In 2010, he received his Bachelors of Fine Art degree specializing in illustration at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
Rick is a mixed media artist, painter and illustrator. In his work, he explores many genres including portraiture, plein-air painting, figure painting and sci-fi illustration. In his most recent series of landscapes titled, Internal Landscapes, he explores the eerie, peaceful, chaotic and sometimes intimidating nature of the dense forests of his home in Louisiana and other regions of the Deep South.
